about
Tucked into the heart of Tulsa’s historic Greenwood District — the former home of Black Wall Street — Silk carries the echoes of a powerful legacy. Founded by TJ Woodberry, a visionary Black woman entrepreneur, Silk is a love letter to every woman who’s ever felt unseen in the beauty world. It’s a space where care feels personal, and where luxury doesn’t shout — it whispers.
Here, self-care is a ritual. Every detail is designed to soothe, every moment invites you to exhale. Silk isn’t just a salon. It’s a sanctuary — lush, luminous, and deeply rooted in the belief that rest is a form of resistance, and beauty, a birthright.
project concept
The name, Silk, was intentionally chosen to reflect both the essence of the services provided and the experience of the salon. At its core, silk presses are a signature offering, making the name a natural connection to the craft. Beyond that, the fabric itself — renowned for its fluidity, softness, and luminous sheen — embodies luxury, sensuality, and self-care. These qualities shaped not only the brand identity but also the salon’s interior, translating the elegance and strength of silk into a space designed for beauty, comfort, and transformation.

Entrepreneur. Builder. Visionary.
For more than a decade, TJ Woodberry has been building businesses across multiple industries, from luxury auto exports to high-end wellness and beauty spaces. A born entrepreneur, she spent seven years growing and scaling an international car brokerage business, ultimately leading to a successful exit that allowed her to turn her focus toward new industries.
Now, she’s bringing that same business acumen, eye for design, and commitment to service excellence to her latest venture—Silk Salon.
Silk Salon is more than just a beauty destination—it’s a thoughtfully designed space where clients can expect exceptional service in a sophisticated, welcoming environment. Woodberry saw an opportunity to elevate Tulsa’s salon experience, blending the efficiency of express beauty services with the feeling of a high-end, full-service salon.
Beyond providing a world-class experience for clients, Woodberry is committed to creating well-paying jobs and career opportunities for talented beauty professionals. Through Silk Salon, she has built a space where stylists can thrive professionally while leading full, balanced lives.
This is not Woodberry’s first time redefining an industry. In 2018, she founded Poppi’s Spa & Lounge, which quickly became Oklahoma’s most sought-after wellness destinations, known for its luxurious ambiance and transformative self-care experiences. Now, with Silk Salon, she continues to push boundaries in the beauty space, proving that exceptional service, thoughtful design, and strong business strategy can coexist seamlessly.
With the grand opening of Silk Salon, Woodberry is once again raising the bar, blending luxury, service, and opportunity to create something truly remarkable.
design
The space is color-drenched and monochromatic, with the dominant deep fig hue enveloping most of the salon, creating a moody, sensuous atmosphere. Smaller, distinct applications of apricot and pink punctuate the design, creating visual contrast and a sense of playfulness within the overall palette.
The arch is the defining architectural motif of the salon, appearing in the grand illuminated entryway and the numerous openings throughout. Its repeated presence creates a distinct spatial rhythm, guiding movement and framing each area with a sense of fluidity.
Custom details, including wavy tambour millwork at the reception, powder-coated metal countertops, and glass block partitions, lend a sleek, postmodern edge.
The result is a salon that feels like a feminine, postmodern spaceship.
